Where the Money Goes

We give…

  • To minister in Jesus’ name.
  • Because God first gave to us.

The impact of 12.5 million United Methodists, in 136 countries, is phenomenal. Together we witness to the love of Jesus Christ for a hurting world and transform lives and communities in his name.

In 2017, United Methodists gave more than $140,000,000 to support various ministries of the denomination.

That’s all good and well, but what about here, right in our own church.

  • We’ve sent over $5,500 to support our region and state through connectional giving this year. Those funds are combined with contributions from other churches to extend the reach of the church.
  • We spent about $2,900 on education programs, mainly children’s education over the past 18 months. This includes VBS, food, curriculum, and more.
  • We sent $2,000 to local missions over the past 18 months; things like DeSoto CONTACT and the Ministerial Alliance.
  • Not counted here: all the donations of non-monetary goods for the Food Pantry, Pony Bird, schools (Valentines, scarves, hats, etc.), A Safe Place, and Night to Shine (fancy dresses!).
  • And probably the most impressive monetary fact: we spent over $8,500 to show love to our special guests at Night to Shine.

The money that is collected during regular weekly offerings is only the beginning. That spirit of generosity allows us to extend our reach into the community and fulfill the mission of the church:

To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
