141 special guests and a ton of fun!

Night to Shine was certainly different this year, but it was certainly a wonderful experience for our volunteers and guests. Check out these smiling faces!

We served 141 special guests in 2 locations. The logistics required was seen as a challenge instead of an obstacle, and our volunteers did a wonderful job of showing love to our guests through the Shine Thru parades.

Special thanks goes to Dave Brown and his crew at Mapaville Fire. When the parents of Amy Smith’s Rockin’ Hawks choir started showing up with children and limited parking at the fire house, a solution was devised that worked beautifully. Their resourcefulness accommodated parents and kept the way clear for guests.

Ron Hasty with the Patriot Trolley also went out of his way to get the guests from My Place Too to the Shine Thru. In fact, with the weather leading up to the event, Sunnyhill guests also needed transportation, and he picked them up too! His assistance was invaluable.

Maureen next door also pitched in when the church lot was covered in snow and deliveries had to get to the Fellowship Hall for the guests’ gifts. She helped shovel a path from her driveway to the front door and helped carry in boxes, cupcakes, and more from her driveway, which was used as a staging point!

Ashley Stichling’s students also did a great job of decorating boxes for the gift kits despite the accelerated schedule with school being closed due to inclement weather. Give those kids stickers because they were on-target with their assigned task!

From Felix taking photos, Steve the DJ, to the committee meeting and taping and assembling boxes…despite the weather that made things difficult in the days prior to the event, it all worked together for good.

These people are integral to our Night to Shine ministry. Without them, sharing the love of Christ with individuals with special needs and their families wouldn’t be possible.
