Since school will soon be starting and August can be a bit of a drag, we thought it would be a good idea to add a little fun and brighten each others days.

Share some fun

During August, bring a photo or church bulletin from any of your summer trips! Share it by posting it on the bulletin board near the water fountains, so we can share in your joy, worship, and adventures. It doesn’t have to be a grand pilgrimage; a simple date-night or ballgame works too. Please include your name and a location (if it isn’t obvious).

Blessing of the Backpacks

We will host a Blessing of the Backpacks service on Sunday, August 20, 2023 during our morning worship. Students, teachers, and support staff are invited to bring their backpacks, satchels, books, or other tools of the trade to the service. We’ll be celebrating the start of a new school year and praying over our students and schools.

A new school year can be exciting or scary—or both. We can try to make that transition easier by praying to God and giving thanks for the people in our schools. School start dates for local schools are:

• Hillsboro—August 21
• Grandview and Sunrise—August 22
• DeSoto—August 23
