Our free chili supper is making a return! Saint Andrew is the namesake for our church. St. Andrew’s Day is traditionally celebrated on November 30th since that marks the day of Saint Andrew’s crucifixion in the year 60 A.D. We will be taking the opportunity to celebrate the church and St. Andrew on Monday, November 30th.
As we did last year, we are planning a free chili supper (white and red). This year, Kevin Smith has agreed to provide us with take-out containers for the chili, and we’ll make our celebration a drive-through! Just like drive-through Communion, you can show up at the back door and let us know how many orders of chili you need. We’ll package it up, and bring it to your car.
As with all things 2020, some restrictions apply. Anyone can stop by to take chili home, but we’ll be limiting the people in the kitchen to just four. Those four will need strong legs to carry items up and down the stair, so the faint of heart need not apply. However, we’ll also need 100 corn muffins and 200 cookies. If you can make a couple dozen cookies and bring them to the church on Sunday, November 29th or Monday, November 30th, that would be fantastic! And of course, everyone in the congregation is welcome to drive-through for chili.
We’ll also be looking for a couple of drivers to do some deliveries to local emergency personnel. These shouldn’t take long, and anyone that is able to make some deliveries should contact the church.
Here’s your recap:
- If you have mighty knees and are willing to help in the kitchen, contact the church office.
- If you can make deliveries on November 30th to local emergency personnel, contact the church office.
- If you can bake cookies to be given out, bring them by the church on Sunday, November 29th or Monday, November 30th. (If you can package your cookies in bags with two cookies each, that would be great. It isn’t a requirement though.)
- If you can bake corn muffins to be given out, bring them by the church on Sunday or Monday as well.
- If you can drive yourself around to the back of the church, pick up chili on Monday, November 30th. Take it home and enjoy!
