Pastor’s Note

Although a lot of the members of St. Andrew’s know me, we have been able to reach people outside of our church, and they might be wondering who I am.

First off, I want everyone to know I have been a Methodist all my life and can remember, although very young, when we became United Methodist. In fact, my father was a Local Pastor in southeast Iowa at the time of his death from medical complications in 1954.

I moved to Desoto, Missouri in 1988 when I was transferred by the Union Pacific Railroad. My family followed the next spring when my wife Deborah reached 15 years of service with the phone company. We have three daughters; Layna who is a teacher at Vineland Elementary in Desoto, Tara who is employed by Enterprise Bank in Festus, and Krista who is a teacher in Clinton, Missouri, where her husband Zachary is also a teacher.

Deb and I love to camp and travel in our motorhome home and attend events in our 1955 Chevy. I enjoy working on classic cars, building things, and working in our yard. In addition, I have been a pastor in the United Methodist Church since 2001 serving Flucom UMC and First UMC in Desoto and Viburnum UMC. I left pulpit ministry in 2015, but my credentials were never retired.

Having been asked to serve as the interim pastor at St. Andrews UMC was a great honor. I take this position and the duties it entails very seriously. I know that we will face challenges, but I have confidence that with God’s help and because of my relationship with Jesus Christ and the members of St. Andrews we will complete the task at hand. I know our ministry will continue and when the time comes to welcome our new pastor, we will be a sound and stable church ready to welcome new ideas and ministries.
