Night to Shine

Planning is well underway for the 2020 Night to Shine. We will again host this at Vineland Elementary School. The venue was so easy to work with last year, and it offers room to grow. That growth means that we’ll need a few more volunteers this year. In fact, we estimate that we need 1.5-2 volunteers per guest. That means most of DeSoto is on-call for Friday, February 7, 2020! If you haven’t volunteered in the past, we’d love to have you. There are so many different roles that need to be filled. We have a need for attendants outside to get guests ushered inside after they are dropped off, volunteers to help with coronation, buddies to hang out with the guests, and more.

The average attendance at St. Andrew’s is about 67 on any given Sunday, so this event obviously requires a good deal of outreach. Before January 15th, your goal is to recruit at least 1 other volunteer for the event. If you aren’t volunteering yourself, recruit 2 volunteers or give to the event.

Every aspect of Night to Shine is free to our guests. Sure, some of the guests purchase their own dresses and jewelry, but we have a large selection available if that isn’t something they are getting on their own. Costume jewelry is in short supply this year, so if you have some that you’d like to donate, please bring it to the church office.

You can also give financially. A portion of the event is covered by the Tim Tebow Foundation, but that money only accounts for about half of the budget for the event. Donations from business and civic organizations are important, and individual giving is wonderful too.

The event has so many different parts; it is really a community event. Although St. Andrew’s plans and hosts the event, many people are involved. You should be one of them!
