Fellowship time

We are returning to a fellowship time, but it will be a little bit different. It will be BEFORE worship from 9:30 until about 10:15. You can drop in for coffee and a snack and chat with others anytime until 10:15. At that time, you will be encouraged to find a seat in the Sanctuary and prepare for the 10:30 AM worship service.

Singspiration

There will be a Sinspiration in May that benefits the Ministerial Alliance. The DeSoto Christian Church will host the event at 6 PM on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

CIY MOVE

The Missouri Conference’s CIY MOVE event will be held the week of July 18 at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. It is geared towards incoming 7th graders to graduating seniors. Attendees should expect an amazing and powerful week that will be tiring but beyond rewarding. Youth interested in attending should pray and keep praying for a great event.

CIY is staffed by experts at what they do. The organization has been doing this for around 50 years. One of CIY’s biggest perks is that you have the freedom to be present in so many ways. CIY presents a fine-tuned, high-level conference experience that’s like no other. Over the decades, CIY has branched out to serve multiple denominations because the teaching presented focuses on the big picture. CIY wants to make sure that students know and have a relationship with Jesus first and foremost and then, out of that relationship, use their gifts, talents and passions to serve the local church. When it comes to doctrinal aspects, CIY believes that this is an “in-house” matter. They know that God’s church is diverse, so they encourage students to always go to their leader to have a conversation on the matters that may be doctrinally different from church-to-church. Past Missouri Conference members who have attended CIY have seen a theologically diverse number of pastors and laity from our in attendance at a CIY event, and they all have walked away happy and impressed.

Registration is required, and there’s a discount code through the conference. Normally, an event like this would cost around $324. Since the NextGen Ministries team believes so strongly in what CIY MOVE can accomplish for the students in the Missouri Conference, they are offering a half-off discount with the access code “CIY50”. That makes this weeklong conference only $162 per student! No funds to attend? No problem. Contact the church about scholarships.

Logistically, the best way to prepare for the event is to make sure that you get the required medical release forms and other documentation for your students so in-person registration and check-in goes smoothly. CIY does a great job of keeping you in the loop ahead of the event. Keep an eye on your email as CIY shares unique aspects of this year’s event and special materials to bring.

The theme this year is BROADCAST. Each day the focus will be on a parable that Jesus taught in the Gospels.
