God made us to have emotions, and God has them, too. During this four-week series, elementary students will learn that God is always with them to help them figure out why they feel the way they do, and how to deal with it. Whether the emotions feel good or bad, they can be helpful. Students will learn to pay attention to their emotions, learn to name them, and talk to God and trusted leaders, parents, and friends to help them sort through them. They will remember God’s grace—and that He’s with them to help them get back on track no matter how they’re feeling.
Each Wednesday, a lesson will appear right here. You can also find lessons on the private Facebook group.
Week 4, what will make me happy?
Lots of things might make me happy, but only God can give me joy. James 5:13 says, “…Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.”
Happy is about good things happening and only lasts a little while; joy is about how good God is, you can have joy even when bad things are happening.
Week 3, what do I do when I’m mad?
It’s okay to feel mad. Everyone feels mad, sometimes! But it’s not okay to make wrong choices because you’re mad. Ephesians 4:26 says, …”When you are angry, do not sin.” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.
Week 2, how to stop feeling guilty
I can ask God to give me grace when I feel guilty. 1 John 1:9 says, “…if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us…”
Week 1, I feel sad
When I feel sad, God comforts me. The Bible verse says we can comfort others, too. 2 Corinthians 1:4 says, “He comforts us in all our troubles so tha we can comfort others. …”
