Brenden’s Friday Backpacks serves 166 children through Vineland Elementary and about 50 children through the DeSoto Head Start program. The program, originally started in 2011, sends kid-friendly foods home with children each Friday. The intent is to keep children fed over the weekend; children who would otherwise be without breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Each elementary-aged backpack cost $7-8 to put together, so our goal is to raise $300 before March 17. This will be enough to put together roughly 40 backpacks! You can add to your regular offering and designate any amount for this local organization. The suggestion is to give in $7 or $8 increments and add the note “Friday Backpacks” on the memo line.
