Fear is a part of life. Everyone is afraid sometimes. That’s a good thing when it keeps you from, say, touching a hot stove. But it’s not so good when it keeps you from doing good things God has called you to do, makes you start to worry, or makes you think there’s a monster under your bed. This four-part series addresses common fears kids have and how God helps us overcome them.
Each Wednesday, a lesson will appear right here. You can also find lessons in the private Facebook group.
Overcoming Fear
Week 4
Today’s point is, “Fear can’t stop me from doing what I need to do.” Now, get ready, because something a little odd is going on at Konnect HQ…watch this to see what I’m talking about!
Even in her dreams Alissa doesn’t let anything scary keep her from doing what she needs to do!
This week’s Bible verse can help us remember that God’s spirit of power, love, and self-discipline is stronger than any fear we face. Say it: “God has not given us a spirit of fear…but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
Pray this prayer: God, please remind us who we are and how powerful You are when we feel afraid. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today, our point is, “When I’m afraid I’ll fail, God will help me.” Now that you know the point, I’m ready to watch Konnect HQ with you to see an epic fail! Who will it be?
Edison was so afraid to fail—I’m glad he finally asked God to help him. I’m gonna miss that guy while he’s at Konnect IQ.
The Bible verse reminds us God is always there to help. Isaiah 41:13, “…the Lord your God…says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
Pray this prayer: God, thank you for being there to help us when we’re afraid we’ll fail. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Do you like Hawaiian shirts? Do you think they’re fun? Festive? Sometimes, we’re just a little obsessed with Hawaiian shirts. Watch this, and you’ll see why.
That whole Hawaiian shirt thing was getting creepy!
But seriously, being worrying about what other people think is a trap! A trap, I tell you! Our Bible verse helps with that though. Proverbs 29:25 says, “Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.”
Pray this prayer: God, Thanks for giving us the courage to live for You, and only care about what You think! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s point says, “I trust God instead of worrying.” Now let’s see who learns more about that at Konnect Headquarters.
Wow. When you get stuck thinking about all the bad things that might happen, you can get really, really worried!
Our Bible verse is a good reminder to trust God, instead of worrying. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and care to God, for he cares about you.” Now, get ready to practice giving your worries and cares to God!
Pray this prayer: God, please help me leave my worries and cares in Your hands, instead of worrying about them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
